APTCOO is a registered charity and Independent Special School based in Nottinghamshire. We provide information, advice and access to a flexible and tailored range of specialist support services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are a single point of contact and one-stop resource centre where our families feel safe, improve their health, education and wellbeing, develop new skills and have fun within an all inclusive community-hub setting. As an Independent Special School we use highly innovative and creative practical strategies that turn opportunities into real and successful change. We deliver flexible provision that will ultimately improve young people's well-being, attendance and achievement together with confidence to re-engage back into mainstream. APTCOO support young people from early years through to adulthood to enable them to achieve their full potential in life. We have created unique spaces in the local community for almost 30 years, based in Mansfield and more recently branching out with properties in Retford, Budby and Thoresby set within the beautiful Sherwood Forest. We are motivated by the social, economic, health, environmental and community benefits, we are committed to bringing those benefits to as many people as possible, including marginalised and vulnerable groups.

Why the community needs usActivities are designed to encourage engagement and participation, bringing people together to support each other, making friends, socialising, reducing isolation and loneliness. We are a positive learning centre where families and professionals come together in order to improve the health, education and wellbeing of service users within the local community. We embrace the importance and power of learning enabling children young people and adults to try things out without the fear of failure changing the emphasis from surviving into thriving and "look what I can do, not what I can't do!". We believe everyone should have the same opportunity to succeed in life by providing an accessible, alternative and flexible route tailored to their individual needs, we increase aspiration throughout the local community.
