Artheads is a 'not-for-profit' voluntary organisation, committed to helping anyone with drug, alcohol and/or mental health issues. It is run by volunteers, many of whom are recovering addicts who want to provide those trying to stop using drugs and alcohol with something constructive to do to fill their free time. The studio provides a safe place in which clients and members of the wider community can take part in art and music sessions or just drop in for coffee, meet people and relax.

Why the community needs us

There are currently significant numbers of people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in the Bury St Edmunds areas who are not used to filling their free time with constructive activities and who require a safe drug and alcohol free place to go, where they won't meet previous using associates. Relapse is a common problem among recovering addicts and the Artheads project seeks to minimise this risk among its service-users by providing an alternative.

Our impact on the community

We feel that people who are trying to address their drug, alcohol or mental health problems face big challenges. These can range from having a lot of free time and nowhere to go through to deeper issues, such as low confidence and self-esteem. Whatever their needs are, finding a creative, social outlet like Artheads has been proven to help people at a crucial crossroads in their life to stay in recovery and not revert to misusing drugs and/or alcohol.
