Arts Gateway MK (AGMK) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and growing the creative arts community in Milton Keynes. Based at our arts hub on Burners Lane, we provide 80 affordable studios and workspaces for local artists, makers, and creatives. In spring 2023, we expanded our facilities with the completion of a flexible presentation space designed for performances, exhibitions, workshops, and art classes — enabling us to reintroduce in-person creative programming for the wider community

Why the Community Needs Us

Milton Keynes is a rapidly growing city with a vibrant but underserved creative sector. AGMK fills a critical gap by:

• Providing affordable, accessible studio space for artists to create, collaborate, and thrive.

• Fostering a creative ecosystem where local artists can network, share skills, and develop professionally.

• Offering inclusive, community-facing programmes that bring people together through creativity—from exhibitions and performances to workshops and classes.

• Acting as a voice for the arts, advocating for creative perspectives in local planning and development through strong links with local councils and stakeholders.

Our Impact

Since our founding in 2014, AGMK has supported hundreds of artists — initially through temporary spaces, and now as the largest provider of artist studios in Milton Keynes. Our new presentation space significantly expands our capacity to deliver:

• A broader range of creative programmes, accessible to diverse audiences.

• New opportunities for skills development, particularly for emerging and underrepresented artists.

• Greater community engagement, with events and activities that promote wellbeing, inclusion, and cultural enrichment.

By nurturing creativity at the grassroots level, AGMK plays a vital role in shaping a more vibrant, connected, and culturally rich Milton Keynes.
