Supporting and nourishing the arts in Milton Keynes and neighbouring areas.

Arts Gateway MK (AGMK) provides a home for creative artists as part of a larger remit to help support the arts in Milton Keynes. In our premises in Burners Lane, we have constructed an arts hub, with 75 studios/workspaces occupied by local creatives. In spring 2023 we completed the construction of a flexible presentation space for performance, exhibitions, workshops and art classes. It gives us the opportunity to once again offer face to face creative events and programmes for the local community. We also provide an arts resource centre (CARC).

Why the community needs us
We are growing the artistic community in the local area and have created a place where it can flourish. Our arts hub provides an opportunity for networking and collaboration among local creatives as well as a place to practise their art. The new presentation space provides the opportunity to offer, participate in and enjoy new creative programmes and creative skills. With strong links to the local councils we also provide a voice to promote the artistic point of view.

Our impact on the community
AGMK has housed hundreds of artists since 2014. Initially we used temporary offices. With our Burners Lane premises leased from the Community Foundation, we are now the largest provider of artist studios in Milton Keynes. Our new presentation space will provide increase the number and diversity of creative programmes and events on offer in the city, providing additional opportunities for creative skills development.

Now that we have built a publicly accessible multi-purpose performance and exhibition space in our premises in Kiln Farm, we need people to help us develop creative programmes that will reflect and appeal to Milton Keynes' diverse communities, to organise, publicise and run the programmes, Practical skills are also welcome, to help us build more artist studios. We also need helpers to help run the Community Arts Resource Centre.
