Ashington suffers severe social and economic deprivation. There has been insufficient investment to compensate for the loss of the coal mining industry and rebalance the sustainability of the entire community. High unemployment rates are endemic,infrastructure and facilities are outdated and inadequate. There is a widespread apathy, lack of motivation and poor self-esteem, resulting in low self-belief that contributes to mental health issues and poor educational attainments.

Provision of affordable housing and childcare to enable people to apply for work or training. Projects to provide employment and training to improve self worth. Support for volunteers to make a difference in their community. Support for residents to make informed choices about proposals affecting them and their community
