The Associates of Epping Forest Field Centre are dedicated to raising awareness of and funds for the work of the Field Studies Council at FSC Epping Forest. They deliver projects and community activities using the Centre's grounds, and sites throughout Epping Forest. The objective is to link the community to Epping Forest Field Centre and to promote community engagement with the Centre.
Why the community needs usThe Associates of Epping Forest Field Centre deliver projects and community activities, specifically for disadvantaged children, young people and families, those living in areas of socio-economic deprivation and children with special needs. Our projects target children who have little or no experience of the natural world and provide opportunities for children who could not otherwise take part in these activities.
Our impact on the communityRecent reports indicate that British children are increasingly out of touch with the natural world. There is a significant body of evidence that converges around the principle that taking children out of the classroom or providing outdoor learning experiences has a positive impact including raising self-confidence, academic achievement and behaviour however the most disadvantaged are least likely to be offered the chance to take part in it. Our work addresses these concerns.
