Bath | Community Support & Development
Bath Area Play Project - Bringing Play to Life across Bath since 1979
Every child has the right to play and we do this across Bath through provision of direct services such as Holiday Playschemes, Community Playdays and youth provision for disabled children as well as support for vulnerable families with children who are play deprived or are socially isolated. We work holistically with families to support individual children in schools and out of school as well as through playful group work. We also support voluntary organisations who work with children across B&NES.
Why the community needs us
Communities that value children, take account of their views, have places for them to play and meet that are safe. We support groups of parents to do this and have universal services available in most school holidays which are open to all in the community providing a greater benefit as this reduces social exclusion and enables communities to become better connected through their children. We work closely with schools to support children's development & encourage greater parental involvement.
Our impact on the community
Reduced social isolation, increased self confidence and self-esteem, increase in number of disabled children using universal services, improved behaviour and attendance at school, increased understanding of children in keeping themselves safe and increased parental understanding of key health messages and understanding of their child's play and behaviour including improved relationships.
