Youth Hubs For Young Carers

We run 4 Hubs per month, 2 on Saturdays for 5-11 Year old Carers and 2 on Friday evenings for 12-17 year old carers.The Hubs provide a range of workshops and activities including sports, exercise and healthy eating, dance, photography, music and drama.Hubs provide a space for young carers to relax and enjoy themselves. These Hubs are in 2 different locations so young carers across the borough can more easily access them plus a bus service for those whose parents may struggle to get them there.

Why they need our service

''Many young carers are vulnerable and isolated due to the extra needs of their families and they struggle to find time for themselves. There is also more likelihood of them suffering from stress and mental health problems, missing out on opportunities and developing emotional and behavioural problems due to their caring role. Young carers are in need of a space that gives them respite from their caring responsibilities. Please support our appeal by making a donation today!

Plan and expected results

These Hubs provide young carers with fun and enjoyable time out from their caring role and activities especially for them. All workshops and activities teach valuable life skills in a fun appropriate way, improve the health and well-being of our young carers and help build self-esteem.Hubs also provide opportunity for young carers to meet and build friendships with others who are in similar situations, so they feel less isolated. Our experienced playworkers provide emotional and social support.
