Basingstoke & District Young Carers, a registered Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO), is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by young carers (aged 8 to 18), in the Basingstoke & Deane district.

With an estimated 700,000 young carers nationwide (though the actual number may be higher), these resilient young people, shoulder caregiving responsibilities that impact their lives in profound ways.

Young Carers are children and young people whose lives are affected by living with and looking after a family member with a disability or long-term illness. This may include mental ill-health, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, addiction to drugs or alcohol, and long-term health conditions. A Young Carer will often undertake many tasks not usually attributed to a young person, such as shopping, cleaning, washing, ironing, cooking, providing support with dressing, helping to look after siblings, managing bills and money, assisting with personal care, helping with medication, and providing emotional support.

At Basingstoke & District Young Carers, we strive to raise awareness of these challenges and provide comprehensive support, ensuring young carers can lead fulfilling lives whilst undertaking their caregiving roles.

Join us in making a difference. Together, we can ensure that Basingstoke & District Young Carers receive the recognition, support, respite, and assistance they need to thrive and reach their full potential.
