Why the community needs us
BEAT is helping the local community to grow more of its own food and to produce more of its energy needs. We created a community orchard and helped making 8 allotments, a community wind turbine and helped our local church/community insulate some of the rooms. BEAT arranged public meetings, conservation work & made a newsletter. More information about BEAT on www.blackshawbeat.info. BEAT helped the Repair Cafe in Heptonstall and others with grant applications. BEAT is arranging various public meetings in Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Halifax on climate change, biodiversity, food, health, etc. On Saturday 16th September BEAT and Hebden Royd town council is arranging a public meeting with Carbon Coop at 10am at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.

Our impact on the community
Our community would become more sustainable by increasing our food production, generating some of our energy and income for further community projects. We have made our local church/community centre cheaper to warm up. We will arrange six-monthly village clean-ups.
