Bedford Radio is the local radio station for Bedford. You can hear us on DAB across Bedford and Kempston, and online.
We are rooted in the local community: we are run entirely by volunteers, and anyone in Bedford can get on-air.
Bedford Radio is a not-for-profit local radio station, and we rely on a mix of fundraising, advertising and grants to cover our costs. These include DAB transmission, music licensing and the cost of our town centre studio: without income to pay for these, Bedford Radio will not be able to operate.
If you set up a regular donation, you become one of our Bedford Radio Badgers, and we will send you our special black and white badge as a thank-you. The minimum amount accepted by Localgiving is £2 a month, but we would greatly value regular donations of £5 / £10 / £20 if you feel able to make them.
What does Bedford Radio sound like?
During daytime we aim for a mix of shows that contain entertainment, speech, discussion, and current affairs. Presenters will discuss issues of the day with guests, listeners, and the community at large.
Our music policy aims to have a broad appeal, for those in their 30s to late 50's, modelled on popular commercial and public stations.
At evenings and weekends we look to cater to different interests, including community-focused shows and content, special interest programmes and specialist music shows.
What makes us unique:
