We exist to work with the most vulnerable young people in North Northumberland, by providing a diverse range of helping services that are easily accessed and free to use, and including preventative work and early interventions. The Project was launched in 1995 due to most other helping services being remote, and often difficult to use for parents and young people alike.
Why the community needs usOur target group is the 2400 young people aged 12 to 25 in the Berwick area, and most specifically, those who are experiencing difficulty as a result of mental health, behavioural issues, special needs, family difficulties, homelessness and so on. We provide: A drop-in Support and Counselling Service, open 5 days each week;Supported Accommodation for eleven young people;A programme of activity and challenge, through Youth Clubs, Duke of Edinburgh Award,Expeditions and Art.
Our impact on the community'I dread to think what would have happened if my daughter had not been able to talk to anyone about her ordeal. It has been a godsend to my daughter and family that you provide a service where children feel that they can trust you enough to confide in you about things that have affected them in any way' Parent, 2010
