Serving freshly cooked breakfasts for those in need in a warm and welcoming environment
Big Breakfast Plus serves a freshly cooked hot breakfast together with cereals, toast and marmalade plus unlimited hot drinks. We are open seven mornings a week from 7.30am - 9am at the Pilgrim Centre café in Regents Circus.
Why the community needs us.
We do more than just cook breakfast (and offer a choice of menu). We provide a safe and informal environment for those at risk of homelessness or affected by the cost-of-living crisis and/or food poverty. Our volunteers offer a choice of breakfast and waiter service to all who come to us.
Our impact on the community
We welcome 80+ guests to breakfast each morning as we continue to raise much needed funds to maintain our daily breakfast service. The local housing officers have stressed the importance of the provision for those vulnerable people who are living chaotic lives. Big Breakfast Plus is part of the community providing simple hospitality and therefore providing a steppingstone to a better life.
On 14 November 2024, the King's birthday, we received the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. This the highest honour for groups in the UK recognising the contribution volunteers make in our community.
Thank you to our major funders Zurich Community Trust, Wiltshire Community Forum and the National Benevolent Charity who gave us a pump priming space to raise money to enable us to continue to serve freshly cooked breakfasts to those in need in Swindon.
