Gateshead | Education & Training
We are a community farm, teaching people about farming, arts and crafts, conservation and country life. The farm is an open public space for learning and wellbeing where you can get involved in courses, clubs, groups and volunteering. We have been staffed by Gateshead Council until 2013 when the council is stopping the funding, and the Association are now working to keep this treasured farm open as a new venture, run by the community as a college and centre for wellbeing and volunteering.
Why the community needs usBill Quay Community Farm was established in 1986 to provide opportunities for local people to experience farming and in doing so encourage humanity, morality, and citizenship. In that time, thousands of people have had a chance to volunteer at the farm or take part in our arts activities, and we believe they are often happier and healthier as a result of their experiences.
