Leeds | Community Support & Development
We are a small, innovative charity, set up in 1983 to deliver a number of different, much-needed specialist services in the heart of a deprived ward of inner city Leeds. We support children, young people, adults and families throughout our community and across Leeds. We run an inclusive centre, encouraging and facilitating all our users to be involved in all aspects of service planning and delivery. We deliver a range of dynamic services that meets the needs and aspirations of community.
Why the community needs usVolunteers gain real life experience as part of a team, alongside experienced workers. We offer structured, NVQ accredited learning in specialist areas including business administration, advice, play work and youth work. Programmes are personalised and flexible which means we create them with input from our volunteers. They are a way of gaining vital experience for the job market. We accept volunteers from the age of 14 right up to 80.
Our impact on the communityWe believe local networks are vital for community cohesion and wellbeing. We design and deliver events, activities and short courses in consultation with the communities we work with. In this way we develop opportunities within neighbourhoods that enable local people to build their confidence, trust and engagement.
