Support Borderlands: Changing lives, building community and turing exclusion into belonging.

Without Borderlands, many asylum seekers and refugees would be left isolated and helpless upon arriving in Bristol. Our mission is to be a beacon of hope and support for those fleeing for their lives from their home countries and seeking safety in the UK.

At the Borderlands Welcome Centre, we offer a safe haven where newcomers find more than just practical help. We provide signposting, friendship, and the support they need to rebuild their lives here in Bristol. Many of these individuals arrive in Bristol with little or no resources, language barriers, and no knowledge of where to turn for assistance.

Why does our community need us? Approximately 25% of the asylum seekers and refugees we work with receive NO financial support apart from the generosity of charities like ours. At Borderlands, our dedicated volunteers strive to make a difference in their lives.

We serve over 70 people each week, offering them a warm, nourishing meal cooked with food donated by local companies. Since March 2023, 621 people have used our social supermarket space.

Our English language classes empower asylum seekers and refugees to lead positive lives, tapping into their unique skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to society.

Since the beginning of this year (Jan 2023), we have registered an astounding 222 new members across Borderlands. That's 343 people who have already walked through the doors of our Welcome Centre, seeking help and finding hope.
