We are a charity that exists to work with refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants to help them from exclusion to belonging.
We strive for a future in which all vulnerable migrants are supported from exclusion to belonging.
Throughout the past year, we have remained committed to supporting people navigating the asylum system, standing alongside them through an increasingly complex and changing landscape.
Together, we have met challenges with empathy, flexibility, and partnership. Whether through shared meals, English language learning, wellbeing initiatives, or opportunities for social connection, our work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a sense of belonging
Our Impact?
In 2026, Borderlands supported 1,714 members across Bristol, helping people seeking sanctuary and people with insecure immigration status feel welcomed, connected and able to build a life in Bristol.
The Welcome Centre
Our Welcome Centre supported 981 members, providing a safe community space alongside practical support, advocacy, food, digital access, showers, wellbeing activities and referrals to specialist services.
The Outreach Project
We supported 778 asylum seekers living in hotels and dispersal accommodation, providing practical support, health navigation, advocacy and wellbeing activities.
The Learning Project
376 learners attended 610 ESOL classes, helping people develop English, confidence and access to education and employment.
The Mentoring Project
70 members received one-to-one support across 502 mentoring meetings.
The Feel Good Project
210 participants took part in activities including yoga, football, climbing, sewing, creative groups, relaxation and leisure activities, creating opportunities for connection and improved wellbeing.
The Social Supermarket and Cooking Groups
Our Social Supermarket supported 290 members, while 32 member-chefs took part in Cooking Groups, providing shared meals for family and friends.
