Cambridge Sustainable Food is a network of public, private and community organisations within the city and surrounding villages working to build a sustainable, local food system. The Cambridge Sustainable Food Partnership Board has representatives from Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council, Cambridge University Colleges Catering Managers, voluntary organisations and local businesses. It was founded in December 2013 and holds the Bronze Award from Sustainable Food Cities.
Why the community needs usOur current projects and campaigns look to address some of today's most pressing social, economic and environmental challenges. From diet-related ill-health to food poverty and waste, climate change to rising economic inequality, food is fundamental to the challenges we face and the solutions we create. This includes Veg Cities, Cambridge Food Poverty Alliance, creating a Pledge and Award Scheme for Businesses and a whole range of community food projects.
Our impact on the communityIn 2017 we reached over 7000 people, inspired over 5000 volunteer hours and engaged with 75 organisations to address the social, economic and environmental challenges that surround food in Cambridge.
