The Canaan Trust,an independent Christian Charity, provides safe secure supported accommodation for homeless males aged 16-54. Based in Long Eaton, the Trust serves the needs of homeless men and women from local communities of Erewash and Broxtowe. The Canaan Trust supplies accommodation as the tip of the iceberg of its homeless service. Staff provide support 24-7, 365 days a year. Our goal is to enable each client to rebuild their lives and regain their independence.

Why the community needs us

The homeless are the forgotten overlooked members of our communities. No one chooses to be homeless - it can happen to any one of us. Too often they are judged, criticised considered to be drunk or drug addicts which 99% of them are NOT! They are someone'e father/mother, someone's son/daughter. someone's brother/sister. The Trust gives them some hope, the potential of a new start, a new tomorrow. A £1.00 spent via the Trust is an investment which brings significant dividends to the community.

Our impact on the community

98% of our homeless clients go on to lead independent, successful lives casting off their social exclusion and once again becoming an integrated and positive contributing member of the community. The Trust recently received an Excellence in the Community Award from Derbyshire County Council, having been nominated by Erewash Borough Council, for the work which it successful undertakes in the name of the community.
