Canterbury and the surrounding towns and villages | Health & Wellbeing
A community hub offering wellbeing support, resources, activities and a cafe serving freshly cooked nutritious food at affordable prices.
Canterbury Umbrella provides resources, knowledge and unwavering support for the social and mental wellbeing of its community. We are deeply committed to providing a safety net to prevent people from reaching a crisis point and then enabling them to build up resilience to the obstacles and challenges they face.
Umbrella’s vision is to protect people from the ‘storms’ of life and to provide people with the necessary resources, skills and positive outlook to face and weather difficulties wherever possible. ‘Wellbeing’ is at the centre of everything we do.
The Umbrella Centre is a social community hub and a registered ‘Warm Space’. We provide a safe space and environment for our local community and beyond. Our social café and lounge area is open to all. It provides a warm place where people can come to relax; work; study; meet or make friends while enjoying a drink or a nutritious reasonably priced meal or snack.
The Centre also runs a range of courses / discussion groups depending on the interest and needs of the community. Activities / courses run at the Centre include health and well-being courses, arts and cultural activities and various ‘one off’ events. We can also signpost to agencies for more specific support needed.
