Carmarthen | Community Support & Development
Our Project is 25 years old and was set up by young people for young people to give them somewhere safe and secure to meet where they can access support, information, guidance, opportunities to learn new skills, get involved with their community and feel great about themselves. We are led by the young people who use us and strive to develop the project and activities around them.
Why the community needs us
The young people enhance the community by learning to respect it and the people in it. They develop really exciting projects that improve abandoned areas of the town, they fundraise in the community and help others who need support. They show the public that they are valuable members of society by taking part in community activities.
Our impact on the community
We work with 500+ young people a year from 8-11 year olds at our Transitionz Group (younger Saturday morning youth club) and 11-25 year olds in our regular drop in sessions.
We also offer a safe space for young people from the LGBTQ+community with a designated LGBTQ+ youth group as well as a Home Ed youth group in term time.
We give young people opportunities to learn new skills like gardening, cooking, art, music, drama, committee membership etc. We provide a volunteering scheme where young people can earn Time Credits for their community involvement. We run health and well-being sessions to keep young people fit.
