Keep childcare affordable, foster child development, provide employability programmes, & build community ties in one of London's poorest communities.
CASP was founded by parents as a community project, 38 years ago. Our mission: to support local parents by providing good quality, affordable out of school child care enabling parents of children from one of London's poorest communities to secure employment and make a positive contribution to the local economy, knowing that their primary aged children are in a safe, healthy and positive environment whilst out of school. In Southwark, where CASP is located, nearly one-third of households earn less than 60% of the national average income after housing costs.
CASP is a registered charity, a company limited by guarantee and an OFSTED registered childcare provider. As an organisation which have grown with our community and our responsibility to support others has also developed - we offer a range of childcare services, breakfast and drop off to school, after school collection, holiday play scheme, pre-school nursery and also periodically deliver partner personal development and employability training programmes targeted at young people and adults.
Our services are situated at 14 Badsworth Road, Camberwell, London, SE5 0JY. The area is characterised by the associated factors of social deprivation, unemployment and isolated single parent families. CASP employs over 13 part-time staff and volunteers, and supports about 100 children per week. We provide appropriate training and learning opportunities to improve the employability, well-being and personal development of young people and adults. In addition, CASP supports parent's access to the workforce, and meet the childcare needs of those already in work, by providing good quality, affordable out of school childcare services; helping to build strong and more sustainable, families and communities. Depending on funding, CASP work closely with other organisations to develop specialist services for specific needs, such as our Young Achiever Programme (YAP) and GROW programmes to alleviate youth violence and unemployment, respectively.
