CASS & Friends achieved charity status in 2017 to offer financial support to young and aspiring athletes, aged between 12-18 living in Gloucestershire or Worcestershire and attending state schools. Training, attending events, buying equipment and obtaining specialist advice can be very expensive, and there is little support available to help with the costs.

The problem is that in our local area, and indeed throughout the UK, when financially limited parents hit a stage where their children are so good at a particular sport and they start competing all over the country (and beyond) if they are going to reach their full potential, the costs become prohibitive in some cases.  This happens all without the back up of prize money and so the parents have to pay for experience, via coaching and new and up to date equipment is always a necessity.  CASS & Friends identifies such children and provides the necessary financial support for coaching and equipment to help them succeed.

In addition, for our athletes aged 15 and above we offer an 8 week Sporting Success Mindset Programme which covers aspects such as goals, beliefs, values, affirmations, energy balance, motivation and worries (lifestyle, recovery, nutrition, stress from social media etc etc).  The last two weeks focus on realising that above the joy of winning and competing, sport is a great opportunity to learn valuable personal development characteristics. These will help the athletes with their friends / family and in reaching their highest potential in life. We look at what skills they can transfer from their sport into their life and how they can develop a strong self-confidence coming from high levels of self-esteem and self-belief.

Getting the right nutrition advice is key to achieving success in sport so our athletes all have access to dietician Claire Fudge at 4thdiscipline. Being inspired is another piece of the jigsaw; and our Ambassador is professional triathlete Nikki Bartlett and our Patron is Eddie the Eagle.
