To offer children with a neurological movement disorder and their families access to weekly Conductive Education sessions along with termly home, school and nursery visits. Working with the parents and nursery / school staff to develop their child's gross and fine motor skills, communication and self care skills. Ultimately building on the child's self-esteem and problem solving skills and teaching them the tools they will need to actively conduct their daily lives with confidence.
Why the community needs us
Children/ teenagers with a neurological movement disorder across Bristol, Wiltshire, North Somerset, Somerset, BANES and South Wales are given the opportunity to develop their physical skills, communication, self care skills, problem solving skills and confidence; working to become more independent and active members of their families and community.
Our impact on the community
At present we are able to offer weekly sessions to 13 children / teenagers at our base in Ashton Vale, Bristol and to 6 children / teenagers at our outreach service in Temple Cloud, BANES. As well as 4 fortnightly 1:1 sessions across Bristol, BANES and Wiltshire. All of the children work towards short term aims (termly) and long term aims; achievement of these aims demonstrates the progress the children are making along with the development of functional skills and the confidence using their skills in unfamiliar situations.
