New Skate park and wheelie facility on the site of the old playground. This would give older children something to do and contribute to their enjoyment as well as keeping them fit and healthy. We would also like to include a MUGA (Multi Use Game Area) in this project but the insurance/inspection and maintenance costs are too high, so we intend to just concentrate on the skate park facility.
Why they need our serviceThe BMX track in the wood is widely used and the addition of a skate park would mean that the park would become a favourite meeting place for our teen population. Regular BMX skills sessions will be arranged (we are having 5 this year during the summer holidays)including Dr.Bike sessions to check people's cycles free of charge.
Plan and expected resultsWe have done a great deal of consultation asking youngsters what they would like to see on the site of the old playground and the top thing is always "a skate park" but, with the current financial situation at the Council, it is difficult to obtain the extra funding which is required to pay for 5 years' inspection & maintenance costs. The problem being that normally funders will only pay for the capital equipment not maintenance. Any amount, large or small, towards this would be appreciated.
£50
will go towards the maintenance costs
£500
would still go towards maintenance
£1000
would go towards skate park equipment
