Islington charitable organisation offers holistic support, food co-op, and cultivates cultural community garden for African Caribbean residents.
As the only African Caribbean-led provider of advice, support, and guidance in Islington, we deliver holistic services covering education, employment, enterprise, training, benefits, housing, and IT. And actively promote justice reform, social inclusion, self-empowerment, and overall wellbeing.
We offer various levels of support and advocacy to residents facing immediate and often complex challenges in their daily lives. Our culturally appropriate food co-op, available through a low-cost membership scheme, provides access to nutritious, culturally relevant food for those who might otherwise struggle to afford it.
In collaboration with the Islington Food Partnership, Choices is developing the Black Urban Growers project, focusing on cultivating Afro-Caribbean crops and creating a Black-led community garden. This garden serves as a space for learning, skill-sharing, connection, and healing, in the short term, promoting health and wellbeing, in the long-term, contributing to a more sustainable, resilient local food system, as well as fostering a sense of community ownership and empowerment.
At Choices, we are motivated by the needs of our community. We move beyond just conversation, and work locally to unite people and consistently develop community-driven actions to combat systemic racism and address racial inequalities to help change lives.
