Chol, a theatre and arts company, based in Yorkshire are the national leaders in live story making.
We believe that creating and sharing stories makes a difference to people's lives. We believe that children in disadvantaged areas deserve equal access to the arts. We are artists who want to make art from real and imagined stories.Through our flagship participatory arts projects and initiatives such as Imaginary Communities and Equal Players we cultivate/use/develop the stories, lives and imaginations of real people to create something new and fantastic - a play, a workshop, a dance performance or a book
Why the community needs usChol gives local people the chance to tell their stories and have their voices heard. Our work takes place in everyday spaces - libraries, schools, streets, parks and community centres. Our artistic programmes are driven by our desire to involve people in making art that responds to identity and locality.
Our impact on the communityThrough our community theatre events and in-school programmes we have impacted the lives of people throughout the North of England for the past 21 years. Our projects are designed to educate, engage and enthral the audience and people involved in productions.
