Why the community needs usCitizens Advice Newcastle was created in 1939 to serve the urgent wartime needs of the people in Newcastle. Originally formed as part of Tyneside Council of Social Service, Newcastle Citizens Advice Bureau was run entirely by volunteers as a community response to the huge public demand for advice on a wide range of issues relating to the war. For nearly 80 years Citizens Advice Newcastle has provided advice and support to people living or working in the city.
Our impact on the communityWe put our clients needs at the heart of decision making, working in partnership, making it easier for clients to access relevant services. In 2017/18 Citizens Advice Newcastle supported 12, 345 service users with 25,338 issues to claim confirmed financial gains of £2,631,895. Issues we helped with covered areas in housing, debt, benefits, employment, relationships and consumer rights.
