The Classic Boat Museum Cowes, the Islands history of yachting, shipbuilding, and maritime Heritage
For 20 years the Classic Boat Museum has been growing its collection of beautiful and often unusual craft - dinghies, yachts, power craft, lifeboats, along with other material relating to seaplanes, liners, naval vessels, and hovercraft. Thousands of photos, plans, drawings, artefacts, books and magazines that cover the rich history of yachting, boating shipbuilding and maritime engineering of the Medina Valley, Isle of Wight, the Solent and far beyond.
Why the community needs usWell regarded nationally and internationally as well as appreciated locally, the Museum seeks to collect, preserve and display a wide and diverse selection of boats as will give the visitor a comprehensive, interesting and detailed story and be an invaluable resource for enthusiasts and historians alike. Recent digitisation seeks to increase the accessibility of this unique collection and to promote and encourage the understanding and appreciation of our maritime heritage.
