CLEAR is a charity that provides a unique service in Cornwall. It is the only charity offering vital therapy and counselling for all ages and genders of people affected by domestic and sexual abuse and other emotional trauma. Our children's therapy service is the only service in Cornwall to be accredited by the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and one of only 3 across the South West. The average age of the children we see is 8, the youngest currently is 2. Our adult clients are of all ages, from 18 to 80+ The majority of adults we see experienced abuse in childhood and are seeking help for the very first time. We work in partnership with the crisis services, our role being to offer therapeutic support to help people to heal, to make sense of their feelings and to develop strategies to cope in the longer term.

All of our workforce or therapists and counsellors are trained, qualified and experienced, working to high standards of care and support. What we do makes a difference - we measure our outcomes from therapy and counselling through nationally recognised measures so that we can benchmark with others and learn from experience. We make a statistically significant difference in terms of mental health and emotional resilience. This in turn improves the life-chance of the children, young people and adults that we support.

CLEAR Ideas, our children and young people co-production group keep us on track and help with many aspects of the charity including staff recruitment, development of services and fundraising activity.

We also deliver prevention and education support in schools, colleges and the community through courses and activities that focus on Positive Relationships and Emotional Wellbeing. And we offer training for professionals, including Safeguarding training, CPD workshops and our own bespoke L5 Post Qualifying Diploma in Working Therapeutically with Children and Young People - accredited by CPCAB.

The Covid 19 pandemic has severely affected our clients through ability to access support, increased risk of abuse and increased anxiety and trauma. At the same time, our ability to undertake traditional fundraising and our income from trading took a real hit. We are now experiencing an upsurge in requests for support for both adults and children. We have never been more needed and have never needed your support as much as we do right now
