Our aim's for every child and young person to be as they'd be if their challenges and life experiences weren't a part of their everyday lives.
Cocoon Kids CIC is a not-for-profit therapeutic service that helps children and young people aged 3-19 years, and their families, to safely explore their experiences. Our therapists use their person-centred child-led, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Trauma Informed training and skills to lead creative counselling and play therapy sessions. We firmly believe in empowering local families, as they build inner-resilience and strength. Through Cocoon Kids CIC’s calm and caring therapeutic cocoon, every child and young person reaches their true potential.
12-year-old Jack hated lockdown. He was overwhelmed, low and alone. Completely isolated and separate from his mates, he didn’t feel that anyone understood. At Cocoon Kids, Jack discovered someone is listening to him. He enjoys using the creative resources such as clay, slime, kinetic sand and water beads, because they really help him to make better sense of what’s happening and manage his difficult feelings. The ‘bottom-up’ brain-based neuroscience, attachment and trauma-informed approaches and specially selected sensory integration resources and techniques that we use in our sessions, also calm his nervous system and help him to feel emotionally safe again.
Jack asked me to let you know how happy he is that you support Cocoon Kids with your donation. He says it really helps that Cocoon Kids offers free and low-cost sessions to families like his: families on benefits, or low incomes, or who live in social or insecure housing.
100% of your donation covers all his sessions. Your money meant that he could choose when to come - even one evening in the holidays, so he didn’t miss his appointments when he found it hard to get up. Funnily, since he’s been coming to Cocoon Kids, he doesn’t sleep all day now.
