The Community Foundation in Wales is a unique charity which promotes and manages philanthropy. Our role is to strengthen communities in Wales by awarding grants to projects that make a sustainable impact on local needs, and to help our clients make the most of their charitable giving.

There are more than 30,000 community groups & charities in Wales which are strengthening their communities and meeting local needs-often on a shoestring budget or voluntary basis. They understand their challenges & ambitions, and work hard to address key issues and achieve the aspirations of people in their neighbourhoods. Through our knowledge of local projects & needs, the Foundation is able to award grants on behalf of donors from £500 to £150,000 to make a difference in local communities.

Last year we awarded £2.2 million in grants & awards on behalf of our clients, Fund holders & donors. We made grants to 529 projects, people and charities, whose work is underpinned by 7,406 volunteers, & benefits over 42,000 people across Wales. Because of our work, Wales is the only nation in the world which has both its own national community endowment fund (our Fund for Wales), and its own national annual philanthropy week & awards. We are the place for philanthropy in Wales.
