Compass Bridge delivers alternative education to disadvantaged young people from 7 to 25 years old.
Compass Bridge's aims are to empower young people, focusing largely on the 8-21 year old age range, improve confidence, raise self-esteem and develop social skills to enhance social development. We offer a wide range of activities including outdoor sports; such as canoeing, gorge walking, rock climbing and archery; IT based around digital photography; healthy eating and cookery; vegetable growing and fruit tree planting and maintenance; woodwork and environmental projects. Why the community needs us
Compass Bridge works in arreas of deprivation and provides programmes of activities that help young people become positive members of society, therefor reducing anti-social behaviour. Whilst going through the activities they produce products such as planters and benches which are placed in the community, helping out other charities and social enterprises. Many of the young people who have used our services come back as volunteers and go onto live full and productive lives in the community. Our impact on the community
Many of the young people who use our services achieve qualifications . For some, these will be the first qualifications they will have gained and will help them gain confidence to enable them to progress further in their academic career. We aim to give the young person a "can do" approach to life, improve confidence, raise self-esteem and develop social skills to enhance social development.
