The Compton Village Hall Management Committee of Trustees maintain and provide through self funding, a village facility for playgroup and toddlers, elderly day care, local theatrical group, old peoples' lunch club, youth groups, flower shows, bingo, blood donors, election hall, keep fit clubs, dances, private functions like weddings, music and band practice, for all the residents of Compton and surrounding rural area.
Why the community needs usIn our isolated rural community, we provide facilities for playgroup and toddlers, elderly day care, local theatrical group, old peoples' lunch club, youth groups, flower shows, bingo, quiz's, blood donors, election hall, keep fit clubs, dances, private functions, music and band practice, parish council meetings and any other organisation which may need our facilities for the benefit of all of the community. Without the trustees' management and fundraising each year this facility would cease.
Our impact on the communityOver the last three years, due to our own hard work in fundraising and donations from local 'givers' including assistance from Local Giving, Greenham Common Trust, Parish Plan Award Scheme, and Vodafone, we have completely replaced an old leaking roof; upgraded some of the hall lighting; renewed flooring; upgraded doors and windows. Without such donations we would have had to close this important facility, the pressure on the volunteer trustees has been eased and community life is preserved.
