Coventry Carers' Centre exists to improve the lives of family carers - people who look after partners, friends and relatives who cannot look after themselves due to disability, old age, illness, mental health needs or substance dependency. We support carers from the age of 5 years. Our services aims to meet individual carers' needs.
Why the community needs usOur one to one information, advice and support service is provided free from both the Carers' Centre, based in the City Arcade, a telephone helpline, and through outreach activity in GP surgeries, local hospitals and other community venues. We also arrange support groups, training, e-news bulletins, and a range of social, leisure and therapeutic activities.
Our impact on the communitySince 1996 the Centre has identified and supported nearly 17,000 carers. The main outcomes from the support given have been to:- Increase the ability of carers to carry on caring- Reduce the social exclusion of carers- Reduce the financial exclusion of carers- Improve the health of carers- Increase carers' control of their lives- Increase the ability of carers to deal with health and social care professionals
We are looking for volunteers to help with:
- Fundraising
- Administative Tasks
- Allotment Project
- Adult group Activities
- Young Carers' group activities
Full induction and training given. All out of pocket expenses paid.
