Our fund for an accessible wheelchair friendly motorboat is growing , more support still needed
Cowes Sailability offers sailing and recreational boating opportunities for adults and children with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and debilitating long term conditions. Our aim is to put smiles on faces, but in reality we do so much more than this. We give disabled people renewed confidence in themselves, inspire them to live full lives and leave them with incredible memories that they and their families will treasure.
Why the community needs usCowes Sailability is addressing the lack of water based activities for disabled people on the Island who wish to experience the joy of sailing and boating. Our members who have a wide range of physical and learning difficulties can have have exhilarating experiences on the water, acquire new skills and make lasting friendships. The club also provides the opportunity to meet with many other members and volunteers on a regular basis both summer and winter.
Our impact on the communityThe opportunities provided by Cowes Sailability Club have a really positive impact on the lives of people who face enormous challenges in their daily lives. It's more than sailing participants can Increase their self-esteem and confidence, by learning new skills in seamanship and helming, Improve their health and feeling of wellbeing, by undertaking a physical activity and spending time outside in the fresh air Reduce their social isolation by engaging with others in the community making friends
We welcome new Volunteers for both on and off the water activies.
