We provide 4 wheelchair accessible minibuses (with passenger lift for disabled passengers) for self-drive or with trained drivers to enable non-profit making groups in Solihull to access health, social and recreational opportunities otherwise unavailable through conventional transport.
We are committed to providing volunteering, training and work experience opportunities through our passenger service and also through our furniture re-use shop in Kingshurst.
Why the community needs usOur not-for-profit organisation helps people of all ages, disabilities and ethnicity with very low-cost transport solutions, where they have no access to a car or public transport. We enable them to keep work or health appointments and help groups with special needs take part in social and community activities (a large proportion of which are elderly and infirm). We also provide valuable comprehensive, accredited training and work experience - many volunteers return to employment.
Our impact on the communityCommunity Transport is well respected in the community it serves, now serving hundreds of registered groups of all types of ability, ethnicity and gender, many with wheelchair users. Last year we made over 62,000 thousand passenger trips covering in excess of 615,000 kilometres. For further info email :solihull@communitytransport.org
We're always grateful to the dedicated people who volunteer on a daily, weekly or even yearly basis! Volunteers take on a variety of roles including drivers, van assistants and office support, and are highly valued in our organisation, and are therefore treated with the same respect as paid members of staff. We are always happy to take on and train new volunteers, especially if you have a D1 driving licence.
