As part of our relief work during the Corona Virus outbreak, we are delivering food across Croydon to more than 20 local Foodbanks and Soup kitchens, reaching out to thousands of residents in need. The CVA Resource Centre is operating as a Food Collection point for food and toiletries. In addition to the incredibly generous number of food donations being made, we are also receiving financial donations. We will use the money to buy goods for vulnerable people, pay the travel expenses of our volunteers and support the foodbanks and community groups that are working with us.
This is what we do best, support the voluntary sector in Croydon by providing funding support, training and information. We run the local Volunteer Centre, help residents to volunteer and run an ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) project with residents in their neighbourhoods, connecting them with local people/assets. This is why we felt perfectly placed to co-ordinate the Relief effort in such difficult times.
Why the community needs us
Your donations will help the families we work with to overcome all the stresses, strains and financial worries they’re managing, helping them to make it safely through lockdown, Christmas and into the new year.
Our impact on the community
From the start of the Corona Virus outbreak we have processed 700 applications to volunteer. During this second lockdown we have started a dedicated telephone line for Food Banks/Mutual Aid groups' clients who are needing specialist support that goes behind a food parcel; whether it is employment or welfare advice, we will help them to access the best support in the voluntary sector.
