Croydon | Community Support & Development
Charity supports food banks, shelters, and community development in Croydon.
This work started during the Corona virus outbreak, when we delivered across Croydon to more than 20 local Foodbanks and Soup kitchens, reaching out to thousands of residents in need. The CVA Resource Centre was operating as a Food Collection point for food and toiletries.
As a legacy of that, we are still running a network for Food banks and soup kitchens in the borough and are presently bringing together a range of faith groups and homeless charities to run a night shelter during the winter months. We are also hoping to open a day centre for the homeless in a central location so that they have somewhere safe and supportive to go to and can connect better with local community organisations, residents and local assets.
This is what we do best: support the voluntary sector in Croydon to come together and build on each other's strengths and expertise to support residents. We provide funding support, training and information. We run the local Volunteer Centre, help residents to volunteer and run an ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) project with residents in their neighbourhoods, connecting them with local people/assets.
