Cwm Taf people First '25 years of Change'

For 25 years Cwm Taf People First has strived to ensure that people with learning disabilities in our area are able to have their voice heard, and their human rights acknowledged and met. In all this time we have helped lead the way in modernising attitudes and approaches of support for people with learning disabilities.

From our headquarters based at the Arts Factory in Ferndale we have an active membership of 120 people with learning disabilities who lead and volunteer within the organisation, empowering themselves and others to take an active role in the decisions and direction of the services they use, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs and priorities are at the forefront of service delivery.

Making sure that the rights, dignity and respect towards people with learning disabilities in our society is fundamental to our work, and we also provide a vast range of educational, health, social and community based activities and opportunities to ensure members have the opportunity to fully participate in community life, whilst helping to challenge prejudice and raise disability awareness.
