CYAC stands for Creative Youth Adventure Club, an Arts Award group for home educated young people.
CYAC was founded in 2007, we set up this youth club to create the time and space for home educated young people, some of whom have learning and physical disabilities, to take part in creative activities and learn new creative skills, that would otherwise be hard fot them to do.
All members of CYAC are encouraged and supported by their Arts Award adviser to gain an Arts Award qualification that is suitable for their age and ability, and to progess through the awards to help them in the future.
Why the community needs usCYAC is very specific in its approach to providing the opportunity for home educated young people to gain acredited qualifications. CYAC taylors it's approach to each individual young person, which ties in and compliments the education style that the young people are used to.
Many creative classes outside of school are aimed at adults and it is very hard for home educated young people to develop their creative skills and experience the arts as a group, while gaining a qualification.
Our impact on the communityCYAC has proudly helped many young people acheive Arts Award qualifications which have directly helped them to gain a place at college.
Students have gone onto BTEC level 2 & 3 courses from CYAC using thier Arts Award portfolios.
The Arts Award promotes engagement in the arts, it has been amazing to see how the young people have grown and developed whilst taking part at CYAC.
CYAC has mounted two exhibitions in Coventry's Glass case gallery to date, taking their art into the community.
