Our mission is to engage and inform children and young people to provide them with choices supporting their individual learning and personal development.

We provide a safe, caring, youth-led space for disadvantaged young people where they can learn, develop and build towards a brighter future. Having started out 20 years ago as a grassroots local effort to tackle problems faced and expressed by local children and young people, we have developed into an established local charity with a strong track record, supported by a number of long-term funders.

Emerging from the pandemic, our focus will be on accessible and meaningful prevention providing a mental health and wellbeing programme, an employability programme, access to youth led community projects and access to real opportunities enabling new experiences and positive growth.

Why the community needs us
We are located in the North Kings Cross area of London - an area containing six pockets of poverty which are amongst the most deprived in the country. Following government guidance around the pandemic, we provide a range of activities, including sports, arts, music, trips, mentoring, employability and enterprise for over 300 disadvantaged young people. The activities we provide aim to raise levels of aspirations and achievement and help young people to develop and build a brighter future.

Our motto is 'By Youth, For Youth', and we encourage and motivate our members to play an active role in shaping our project which not only gives our members leadership and work experience; but also makes them more confident in themselves when they progress into adulthood.

Our impact on the community
Young people who have taken part in our football sessions report higher levels of self-esteem, motivation and confidence; while those who have taken part in our cultural activities have curated their own art installation with local gallery The Wellcome Collection. Young people also took part in creating a youth area as part of the Cally Festival, and produced a short film. Last year, 68% of young people demonstrated raised aspirations and actively wanted to learn.
