We provide minibus transport for 65,000 trips per year, these include social trips, meetings, outings, appointments and group activities. Our aim is to enable groups to be more active in the district; this will enhance the lives of individuals who are part of the groups and reduce isolation. We also take people to medical appointments using voluntary car drivers and run Daventry Town Shopmobility, providing powered scooters and wheelchairs for improving mobility around Daventry Town Centre.

Why the community needs us

We also provide MiDAS Minibus Driver Training to our volunteer drivers, helping them gain the nationally approved certificate. The passengers we assist usually have no other viable means of transport. Over 70% are aged 70+ years and cannot use public transport either due to physical issues or it not serving where they live. Our local newspaper ran a campaign to protect the groups funding and received 11,102 signatures, 18% of the adult population of Daventry District, showing how needed DACT is.

Our impact on the community

DACT provided 65,384 passenger trips through all its services (11/12) travelling 241,877 miles in the process (9.7 times around the world!) 175 volunteers provided 53,643 hours of service to undertake this transport. DACT reduce the risk of health deterioration through loneliness and isolation providing independence and promoting health and wellbeing aiding people to continue living independent lives in their own homes. Your donation could have a big impact on an elderly person's life.
