Reducing the burden of poverty with the supply of furniture, soft furnishing, household appliances, bedding, & kitchen equipment. This particular service is primarily to help those who do not have other sources of support financially to provide basic necessities, so we do it without charge which is why donations from charitable trusts and champions of our cause are vital and appreciated. We have a work based scheme to attract folks with mental health and learning difficulties to join our team.
Why the community needs usPeople helped are of all ages in various circumstances and include families, couples and single people that are normally referred to us by other agencies. We have a dedicated team of employees and volunteers including those related to work-experience based schemes. Together we collect, store, repair as necessary,dispatch and deliver goods and furniture to those who need it most. It is exciting, rewarding, meaningful work because it aims to assist everyone who needs help the most.
Our impact on the communityWe collect from and deliver to a combined 500 residential properties throughout the year assisting on average 130 families and 118 individuals comprising 330 adults and 248 children. We receive typically 224 referrals from 19 different agencies and 27 from the general public. Problems encountered by our clients include poverty fuelled by low income, disability, domestic violence, unemployment, mental health and learning difficulties. By helping them, we hope folks can experience better lives.
