Defiant Sports is led by the community, for the community. Helping everyone overcome any barriers to participation whether disability, financial, general health or confidence and anxiety. We operate throughout our town communicating with the community to meet their needs. Current projects include Tennis for the visually impaired and adults with learning disabilities, outdoor active youth groups in the local park, fitness classes for SEND children and a social drop in.

By working with the community, we ensure those on the fringes or at risk of isolation and feeling disconnected are fully involved, have fun and gain self worth. On top of this all our participants gain the well documented effects of sport and socialising within their community, increasing wellbeing and general health along with the benefits felt throughout the community when people work together and feel part of their local group.

We currently run 6 sessions each week where we can support many people to begin enjoying sport and community activity. As well as the direct participants, family members or carers also benefit from our activities as they may get a little time off or simply benefit from the positive effects on the person they support. In turn this ripples throughout the community at large, reducing use of statutory services and demands on health services, reducing fear and isolation.
