There are over 700,000 family carers of people with dementia in the UK, and this will rise in line with the number of people with dementia – currently 850,000 and expected to rise to 1.6m by 2040. Dementia Carers Count offers life-changing, practical, professional health and care support that families living with dementia so often find isn’t there for them. Our services are free and give family carers the opportunity to understand more about dementia, to connect with others in a similar situation and to look after themselves while navigating the highs and lows of caring for someone with dementia.
Our unique programme is multidisciplinary and multifaceted - our carer-centred approach provide opportunities for family carers to explore the stresses and fears of caring while offering new insight and approaches to caring and dementia through bespoke, agile, cost effective and hi-quality support. Our new local courses will enable DCC to match course venues and styles to local needs and experiences. T DCC is creating a service which can change the lives of family and friends caring for those with dementia. This support structure is there for carers when they need it, whether that is at a time convenient to them – even in the middle of the night - through our Virtual Carers Centre, in the comfort of their own home while on a Live Online Learning session, or the more immersive learning of an in-person course.
