The Derbyshire Hill Family Centre was opened for its community in 1982. The Centre was converted from an old bus garage using funds raised by the Derbyshire Hill Community Association. The Centre provides a meeting point for a variety of resident and community groups has office space, meeting rooms, a multi function sports hall, a cafe area, an IT training room and are currently developing an outdoor garden/wildlife area. The centre offers participative opportunities in leisure,social and sport.

Why the community needs us

Derbyshire Hill is an ex mining community, in St. Helens. The area is ranked by the Office of National statistics in the top 1% most deprived areas in the country. The Centre is a focal point to meeting the needs of its community. Activities range from Autism Support Groups to Well Being Clubs. It is the home of several residents groups and has recently won arards in the RHS Britain in Bloom Neighbourhood Catagory.

Our impact on the community

the future and our aims is to make the community a safer place for all, by reducing the amount of knife crimes in our neighbourhood, by learning and teaching from grassroots level unto young adults, the devastating effects it has on there lifespan's and the victim themselves and most of all the families that are left behind to grieve, we also aim to reduce bullying, anti-social behaviour, domestic violence and other social issues. so the outcome will be a safer community for all.
