We areDesigns In Mind – a working studio where adults from across Shropshire living with mental health challenges come together to work on exciting and ambitious art projects. Our work is raising the profile of mental health and smashing stigma, all whilst making people say “Wow!”
Members attend at least one creative workshop a week, as well as accessing skill training sessions, fun community groups, and pathways to other services. Our services are free to access, and we are flexible to individual need and ability.
“Coming into the studio has been the highlight of my week whether I feel good or bad I’ve turned up and always left feeling better, more positive about life. It is an extremely friendly and relaxed environment with no judgement.”
Your Donations Help Us To Provide…
-Confidence boosting creative workshop sessions that create high quality, stigma smashing artwork -A warm and friendly environment for people with a shared understanding of mental health to form community connections -Training and volunteering opportunities for our members to use the skills they’ve learnt in the studio in new ways -Listening support and pathways into further mental health support and advice organisations to over 100 people -A safe and accessible space to talk about mental health and be heard -A visible space on the high street for mental health and the products made by our members in workshop sessions
Why We are Needed
Since the Pandemic we have seen a higher need for community based mental health support than ever before. More people are being referred to our services and more people are calling asking for help.
We are helping to relieve the strain on statutory services such as A&E by preventing people from reaching a mental health crisis.
“Designs In Mind helps me apply myself then I can also apply myself outside. I am then not overwhelmed.”
Our Impact
In 2022 95% of members reported an increased wellbeing through attending Designs in Mind, with a further 90% reporting that they felt a part of a community. 87% of members said that attending had a positive impact on their confidence.
“DiM has become an integral part of my life. Here I feel encouraged, welcome and challenged creatively. I’ve made some great friends who I also see outside of the studio and feel my social anxiety and mental health has improved greatly.”
