DSASW aim is to make regular sporting opportunity accessible and enjoyable to those of restricted growth and their families in the South west of England, regardless of their race, colour, ethnic origin, gender, location, sporting ability or financial support. They promote and develop sport for persons of restricted growth and to enable them to enter and compete in sport on an equal footing. They promote recreational sport for the the benefit of any persons of restricted growth.

Sport on an equal footing improves members confidence, physical activity and health. It reduces social isolation as members can feel like they are the only ones with the condition and build friendships and create support networks for members and their families. It develops team working, Sportsmanship, leadership and individual skills such as communiations/social skills. Provides positive role models for younger members.

Members have shown increases in their confidence and self estem. Some of our members from the South West have gone on to attend National Dwarf Sports games, World Dwarf Games and individual sports compertitions nationally.
