This original Dudson factory, a Grade II listed building, is the Gateway to the city centre in Hanley. This was donated as a legacy to the local community in 1996 by the Dudson Group, and is managed by VAST, over seen by an independent group of trustees. The original factory was refurbished and transformed this into a Resource Centre for local voluntary action and Community services. It currently provides serviced offices to 18 Voluntary and Community Organisations with over 61000 people using their services. There are meeting rooms, training, resource & reference library, and a Café. Over 3600 VCS groups use one or more of facilities at the centre. The Dudson museum, is housed inside a bottle kiln, where you can see some of the products made by Dudson over the years. This is the only bottle oven in the UK where members of the public can actually go inside.

Why the community needs us

The 18 charitable organisations based within the Dudson Centre deal with a wide range of issues such as bereavement care, relationship counselling, education, mental health issues and volunteering opportunities. Through these organisatins the Centre is used by hundreds of people each week.

Our impact on the community

With a large number of like-minded organisations based in the Centre the organisations lean on each other and learn from each other, and in turn grow and develop. This growth results in more frontline services been delivered to the public, and increased employment opportunities within these groups. The benefits are wide reaching, with a high impact.
