The objects of the organisation are to relieve the physical or mental distress amongst people affected by domestic violence and abuse, including people who have suffered abuse in the context of intimate or family relationships and the children, family and friends of such people; and to promote a wider understanding of the causes and effects of domestic violence and abuse.

Why the community needs us

To offer free, confidential and unconditional support, advice and information to anyone who is experiencing, or has experienced, domestic violence and abuse. To encourage clients to make their own informed choices and decisions and support them to do this. To educate and inform the general public and other organisations about all forms of domestic violence and abuse. To offer practical support and educational opportunities to break the cycle of abuse.

Our impact on the community

2012-2013 DVAAS supported 1113 clients, 828 were referred through the DVAAS helpline. On average we support at least 93 people per month.
