Elizabeth Fry Charity provides a stable, caring environment for women offenders. The majority of our 22 residents have been released from prison on licence and stay at Elizabeth Fry for between six and twelve months. Our professional staff provide the relevant services to our residents, in the form of one-to-one work with those whose lives have been affected by drugs, alcohol, abusive backgrounds. We also provide group work in the areas of art, drama, therapy, financial advice.
Why the community needs usNo community wants to suffer from criminal offending. The number of people in the community indirectly affected by our work is incalculable. Our main goal is to engage our residents in supportive work so that they no longer commit offences. Without our services, the community would suffer if our residents continued to offend and cause harm to themselves and others.
Our impact on the communityThe direct beneficiaries from our work at Elizabeth Fry Charity are our women residents. With our life-changing input we hope that they will gain self-esteem, confidence and join the community (within the Reading area or elsewhere) in a positive way.
